Jason Word, IOM – Manager of Programs, Administration & Policy

Jason Word is the current Manager of Programs, Administration & Policy for the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC). Word joined MEC in 2007 and serves as MEC’s Government Affairs and Policy manager.

As the Government Affairs and Policy manager, Word has forged key relationships with Legislators and business leaders from across Mississippi to promote MEC’s annual legislative agenda.

Word was recently selected to participate in the U.S. Chamber Foundation Business Leads Fellowship Program. The fellowship provides state and local Business leaders with opportunities to engage nationally on critical education and workforce issues.

In his spare time, Word serves as a basketball trainer and is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and the 100 Black Men of America, a national youth mentoring organization. He also enjoys traveling, spending time with family and attending son’s baseball games.

Word is a graduate of Mississippi State University and prior to joining MEC, worked primarily in the banking and pharmaceutical sales industry. Word, currently resides in Madison with his wife, Melissa and two children, Madison and Justin.
